Two step[s]

Iron Mountain

A new week and seven whole days to find a new trail or two to run. It’s easier for me to set smaller goals in pursuit of a large one - and I really like thinking of running on a week-by-week basis. It makes it feel like a new challenge instead of a lifelong chore. This week’s new path will be to Iron Mountain, where I’ll hike/run with a girlfriend over the weekend. I’m excited also to travel to New Orleans in two weeks for work. I’m not sure about trails and good running routes through downtown - which I just found out is where my hotel will be. I’m sure that MapMyRun will have some great suggestions. I can’t wait!

Step One

As a part of my (awesome) job, I get to travel around the country helping to organize and put on marathon and half marathon events. At each event, one of the best and most fun things my coworkers and I do is RUN the new city. I have decided that running is hands down the BEST way to familiarize yourself with a new place. Some social networks - mapmyrun.com or walkjogrun.com are just a few - have really created an easy way to find any distance or difficulty route you may want in almost any city in the nation. I have decided to dedicate this blog to my travels and exploration of the fourteen (or more) cities I’ll visit and run in 2010.

Rain, Rain [Don’t] Go Away

After almost a week of wonderful rain, it’s really easy to wonder what exactly I was thinking when I moved to Southern California. I guess it’s really easy to enjoy this weather when you know that four days of rain is the biggest storm in a century. But nonetheless, I’ve been running in it every day trying to catch drops on my tongue and generally enjoy something other than 70 degrees and blue skies.
